A SUPPORT letter dedicated to our Highly Sensitive Children in Education.

I know that sometimes the evening before you go to school, you might feel a knot in your stomach.

I know that you sometimes have trouble falling asleep, because you replay your day over and over…in the same way as a roller coaster.

I know that you sometimes can still feel tired when you wake up, your mind has a lot to process during the night.

I know that waking up and realizing it is a school day today, can sometimes make you feel sick.

I know that walking into the school can feel like you’ve just already walked a marathon in the morning.

I know that the lighting in school sometimes affects your eyes and that drains energy.

I know that you might sometimes be distracted by the decoration in the classroom, you notice many subtleties.

I know that you might not like it when the teacher focuses on you during class, you’d rather be invisible sometimes.

I know you might be confused when your teacher who doesn’t feel happy to you… is still smiling.

I know that you might find it extremely uncomfortable that people are watching you while you are creating something in the classroom.

I know that you might wonder why everyone else seems to do their work with so much ease and you really have to put in the effort to stay focused on your work.

I know you like to learn about in depth topics in school, because you somehow understand these topics much better.

I know you’d might find it difficult to fully express your emotions in the classroom, you’d rather not display your emotions in front of the class.

I know that you might wish things wouldn’t effect you that much, because you have the tendency to carry the whole world on your shoulders.

I know that you might think that people don’t understand you, it’s like they don’t see the real you or don’t take the effort to really get to know you.

I know you might have a different learning strategy with different empathic needs, unfortunately exams don’t test your emotional intelligence.

Please know that in your classroom there will probably be 5 children who think like you and learn in the same way you do.

You complete our classroom, thank you for being your unique YOU!

You are already enough.
